The 2018 Des Plaines River Canoe & Kayak Marathon is CANCELED this year.
PictureNO pups or people will be paddling Sunday, May 20th.
Safety is paramount.
The Des Plaines River is NOT safe to paddle right now.
Water levels have been rising beyond flood stage for several days due to storms earlier this week, in the area and further north in Wisconsin. All that storm water is flowing down into the Des Plaines River, heading south.

It is with a very heavy heart that the decision was made to cancel this year's race. The river is currently in flood stage. Water levels are not predicted to recede by Sunday May 20th, 2018. Conditions on the water are very dangerous for ALL paddlers. STAY OFF THE WATER.

Further information will be provided on action regarding registration fees as quickly as possible. We will post that information as soon as it's available. Stay tuned and please, be patient.

Save the date!!
Next year, May 19th, 2019!! The weather is going to be fabulous! There will be NO storms the week before the event.

History note: it's been 14 years since the event was canceled.
