Want to help out?

The Des Plaines River Association is a volunteer organization. As such, we can always use volunteers. Race participants and their family and friends are welcome to help out with the marathon. There is a lot of work to be done before, during, and after the race. Volunteers will also receive a patch and t-shirt for helping. Call the hot Line at 847-604-2445 if you are interested.

There are many volunteer positions available for this year, for both racers and non-racers.

• Committee Members: The Des Plaines River Association is the organization that runs the event. We can especially use a couple additonal people to work on the committee that plans the event.
• Marketing - Publicity: Marketing - Publicity is one of the positions that is potentially available. For each year to be a success we need to get the word out. This position involves public relations and advertising, including radio, tv, newspaper, and other outlets.
• Set-Up / Take-Down: Preparing for the race is a big project. We can always use help on the day before the race. Projects include: Set up start line ropes and ready line ropes, Coordinate fence/tent placement, Set up start/finish line tents, Set up finish line rope, Set up timing boards - A truck would be helpful. And of course at the end of race day we need help cleaning up and taking everything down.
• Race Day Staff: Many people are needed on race day to ensure that the event runs smoothly. We have positions available for people who want to race and for those who don't. Positions include Staging Area Coordinator, Starter, Start Line Manager, Traffic Control, Spotters, Bus Coordinator, Put-in Assistance, Take-out Assistance, and more!
• More Positions Available: Each year we have to replace volunteers who can no longer devote their time and talents. We can always use people for projects small and large.
