USCA 2009 Aluminum Nationals, Des Plaines River Vernon Hills to Wheeling, IL Saturday, May 16, 2009

Above & Close-Up Below: *The start area for the Aluminum Nationals.* Forest Preserve Canoe Launch, south off Hwy 60 (Town Line Rd), west side of the river. Limited parking at the put-in. Boats must be dropped off and parking sought nearby, or – better still – at the finish area!



Above & Below: Directions from the start area to the finish area. (a) paddle downstream, or (b) if you are driving: turn left out of canoe launch parking area, go west a quarter mile on 60, turn left (south) on Milwaukee Ave (Hwy 45) for 7.25 miles, turn left (east) on Dundee for a half mile (crossing the river), turn right (south) into Forest Preserve, drive 1.15 miles to final the parking area by a small pavilion at the Dam # 1 picnic area.


Shuttle and Start Times: Drop off boats at start area from 7:00 am. Allow at least 30 minutes to drive your car to the finish area to catch the shuttle back to the start. Shuttle will leave the finish area to head to the start area at 8:45 am sharp. Or arrange a private shuttle with your family, friends, or friendly competitors. Race meeting at 10:00 am. Races start at 10:30 am.
